i dont know of any ford specialists in s'port, but i have heard raymond kittler talk about a few fords he has built, you might want to try him if you are wanting to stay local, but if not Marvin is awesome!

I'm just trying to get the short block done for now. I had that blue ford with tractor tires that ran in the trail truck class at the highliofter race. It has aworn out 360 in now. I bought this 390 from a guy in Gladewater, he said it ran but i'm glade i pulled it done had bad head gasket and one lobe on the cam worn down pretty bad. I have have found out one thing the FE ford are not cheap when it comes to parts.

If you get a chance look at useing a 460. Same size and bell housing. Look up 460ford.com It has build sheets on the web site, alot cheaper to build.
Gonna do a 460 for the wifes Trail Truck Bronco next year.
